Face symmetry test
Every face is asymmetric. The useful question is where, and by how much. This tool compares ten mirrored pairs of landmarks, from the eye corners to the jaw, and reports the difference in each pair as a fraction of the distance between your pupils.

- One face, looking straight at the camera
- Daylight on your face, not behind you
- Hair away from the forehead
- No sunglasses or heavy filter
How it works
Three steps, no upload
The result is a measurement, not a verdict. A small difference is ordinary. The detail rows show which pairs differ most, so you can see whether the reading comes from the eyes, the mouth or the jaw.
- 1
Use a straight-on photo
Symmetry is sensitive to the angle of the camera. A photo taken slightly from one side will read as asymmetric even when the face is not.
- 2
The tool mirrors the landmarks
It measures each pair's distance from the face's vertical axis and the height difference between the two points, then scales the result by the pupil distance.
- 3
Read the index and the pairs
The index runs from 0 to 100, where 100 is a perfectly mirrored mesh. The three largest differences are listed underneath, in plain language.
Questions
Face symmetry test FAQ
What is a normal symmetry score?
Most faces land in the 80s or 90s on this scale, because the scale is generous and real faces are never perfectly mirrored. A lower reading is not a problem to fix; it is a description of the mesh.
Does the camera angle affect the result?
Yes, more than anything else. Even a small turn of the head changes the distances. The tool checks the head pose and asks you to retake the photo if it is too far off center.
Is symmetry related to attractiveness?
It appears in some research on how people judge faces, but the effect is small and contested. This tool measures geometry and does not claim to explain attraction.
Can I use the same photo as the face shape tool?
Yes. If you have already measured a photo in this browser session, the symmetry tool can reuse the landmarks without another upload or another model run.
